Back to football in record breaking fashion

The 2013 NFL season got under way yesterday in the mile high city of Denver, where the Super Bowl champs the Baltimore Ravens took on the AFC favorite Denver Broncos. The picture above is what the Broncos and fans had been looking at for weeks since the game was supposed to be hosted in Baltimore but due to the stadium being booked for a baseball game it was relocated so tensions were high to say the least but things got worst before they got better.

This happened in the form of rain which caused the game to be delayed 25 minutes. Once the game finally did get started the 1st half was nothing to write a blog about actually I personally left the sports bar I was at at halftime due to the poor performance. The best highlight of the 1st half being when Ravens receiver Jacoby Jones was viciously tackled by his on team mate on a put return. A return that he clearly waived for a fair catch.

The rest of the game was a Cinderella story for Peyton Manning and his Broncos as he set NFL records by throwing for 7 touchdowns and passing for 462 yards completing 27 of 42 passes with 0 interceptions. Again something no other quarterback has ever done. He targeted newly acquired receiver Wes Welker and found both Julius Thomas and Demariyus Thomas both receivers scored 2 touchdowns but it was Demariyus who railed in 5 receptions for 161 yards. The scary part is that here is the Broncos remaining schedule: There next game is against the Giants who is led by Peyton's little brother Eli, then they play the Raiders, Eagles, Cowboys, Jaguars, Colts, Redskins, Chargers, Chief's, Patriots, Titans, Chargers, Texans, Raiders. I am predicting out of those games they will win 12 of those games  plus the win they already got the broncos appear to be in store for an amazing year.

Fantasy Ramifications to Bronco's Ravens Game

The quest for the Shiva is officially began and boy did it get kicked off in an amazing way. I have already posted about the larger details of the season opener but now it's time to break down changes you should be making to your team now while the waiver wire is still fresh. The obvious answer is that you need to invest in the Broncos offense. Sadly though the big names are undoubtedly owned by now in nearly every league. Those names being Demariyus Thomas, Peyton Manning, Knowshon Moreno, Wes Welker and Eric Decker. But there is always hope in fantasy on the waiver wire.

During last nights game a few names stepped into the spotlight and a few others light diminished. A major loss to the broncos was Eric Decker who was inured but Julius Thomas #80 a tight end became one of Peyton's favorite targets hauling in 2 td's  and breaking the 100 yard mark even tastier he is available in practically every league. Also on the other side of the ball the Ravens backup running back Bernard Pierce is a great number 2 receiver as he did a good deal of productive work. The best thing about the Broncos is that they have an easy schedule and if things keep going in this direction fantasy owners will be loved and hated for having there players.
