To begin with I delayed even discussing this topic because I found myself torn as an Anarchist which rarely happens. I say that I am torn because I do believe that George Zimmerman was in fact innocent. But that is only because of the following, Florida has that dumb ass stand your ground law, Trayvon Martin was the one to actually strike the first blow and the jury was comprised of 6 women. 5 of those I believe were actually mothers. The fact that the prosecution could not get any type of conviction on Zimmerman is because they were relying on fueling the entire trial with emotions instead of facts resulting in a verdict in favor of the accused murder. But this is not about the trial this is about how as citizens and more importantly parents we need to learn from the tragic death of Trayvon Martin.
While this trial has caused a lot of controversy it brings to light certain other major issues. These issues involve the men and women who brandish a badge and live by the motto to protect and serve. Citizens trust them with there protection but as the title suggest there are unknown rules of engagements to be aware of when dealing with these protectors. In order to avoid death or serious injury when dealing with oppressors apologies police never run when they approach you, don't scratch your head, reach into pockets, don't say anything they don't want yo to say and don't tell them they are wrong. These things will most likely land you severely wounded and in confinement for charges you didn't commit and in some cases may result in death. As much as I would like to bash oppressors even more this post goes out to the decent people in society to the good Samaritans and to anyone who cares about another human being. For starters this is not a picture of someone who needs to be shot.
Regardless of how you feel about the trial the point is the stand your ground law that Florida has in place needs to be changed so if you really want justice then do something to get that law removed or seriously amended. Now on the other hand does this picture look like someone who was not defending himself?
You have to call a spade a spade America but digging even further how do we advance from here as a people? George Zimmerman followed and yes profiled Trayvon Martin not for being black but for looking like a criminal. Given there had been a number of break ins in the neighborhood what is the proper course of action in America now when you see a woman being mugged, or someone breaking into a neighbors house? Do you live in a part of the country where the police response time is closer to 10 minutes instead of 5? So you know know much damage someone can do in 3 minutes much less then 10? By condemming George Zimmerman as being in the wrong you are telling the country that next time you see a crime or even a possible crime just turn your head to your phone dial 911 and keep going with your day to day life. That is a scary world..one where people don't help each other for fear of there good will leading to them being imprisoned?
Keeping our youth safe is the goal so f you take anything from this article then take this. Regardless of what consequences may come from it never expect someone else to take care and protect your children. Let them be involved in sports, martial arts, self defense classes. Teach them how trusting a stranger is bad but also trusting a police can cause you harm because behind that badge is still just a man. The rules of engagement have changed and good Samaritans are slowly being forced to turn a blind eye. So put on your binoculars and teach your kids how to survive...oh by the way this is a picture of a dangerous hooded individual.
